Pre-School

Last Thursday (after being injected with rabies) I took a trip into playgroup,

While we are in Uganda we are establishing a link between the preschool in Mbale and our preschool in norwich- Holy Trinity Preschool Playgroup.

We have teaching the kids in Norwich about Ugandan lifestyle, showing them pictures of the preschool building and kids there. The children have also created pictures of their faces, by painting/colouring/sticking, they are great! these will all be laminated and taken over to the Ugandan kids. We also took a voice recording of the kids singing 'For God so loved the world' and 'The wheels on the bus', these will be played to the Ugandan kids when teaching them the same songs (which will then be recorded and brought back to our Norwich kids!)

What are we doing at the Preschool in Uganda?

We are running the preschool programme for the first week we are in Uganda, this will be for a few hours every morning.

The programme is based around having loads of fun,  being creative and teaching the kids bible stories.

We want to build relationships with these kids, teach them, but also have loads of fun together!

Prayer:

-Please pray for the kids of the preschool. That they will enjoy learning the Bible stories and begin to understand the meaning of them.
-Prayer for the CYFA members leading the sessions: Rosie, Jemima, Sienna, Lucy and Emily. Also please pray for them while they prepare the sessions.
-Safety and FUN during our sessions.

FAQ's

What are you most looking forward too? I am most looking forward to being challenged, in many ways. Firstly, mentally. I think this will be an amazing experience and really help me to think about different things that I take for granted and how lucky I am, and we all are. Secondly, in my faith. I am not great at remembering to pray or thank God for what I have all the time and I guess I am looking forward to doing this as a group so I will find it easier. And also, just spending time with all the lovely, amazing people that are going. I know some people better then others and I am just really looking forward to spending time with all the cyfa people and all the amazing leaders we are blessed to have. Not only am I looking forward to being challenged but to having an actual once in a life time experience. We get to have a real impact on peoples lives which I think is incredible as well as go on safari and experience a whole new culture. I think having this experience will really change my outlook on the world when I'm back home.
How can I help? PRAY! We need prayer for lots of different things: Mainly that our last few fundraising events are successful and we manage to get the last bit of money we need to go! That we are all in good health to be able to go and stay well when we are out there, if we are all well then we will all enjoy it much more! That we stay focused on planning the sessions and lessons we will be doing when we are there. That as a team we all get on and don't annoy each other too much, so that we can work well together. Support. We are incredibly grateful to everyone that has been extremely generous in donating towards the trip in so many ways. If you haven't and would still like to that would be amazing! Eat cake! Sounds simple? We are still planning on doing cake sales and cream tea afternoons, so just being there to eat it helps us a lot!
What are you doing out there? Many wonderful things! We are all split up in the various teams in the morning and the afternoon and we are all running various activities. These include: Painting two beautiful murals on the walls and pillars out there. The catch up education programme. This comes in two parts, the English and maths half, and the health and hygiene half. This will help people that have missed school for reasons such as ill relatives or they just can't afford it. We will also be teaching them basic hygiene and health skills, including how to brush your teeth and a nail painting session! Also as part of the catch up education programme we will be running sports sessions, the boys mainly heading up the football ones with netball and athletics for the girls. We will also be helping in the preschool out there. The first thing that sprung to my mind was, cute babies! We will be teaching them bible stories as well as organising activities and games for them to join in with. As well as this we will be building a playground out of tires! And helping out with gardening. On top of this we will be going on a safari and visiting a local market as well as enjoying the local culture and soaking it all in!
As you can tell we have an action packed two weeks planned, and we are all mega excited!

Welcome to our Trip's Blog!

We thought it would be a fun Idea to keep a Blog about our amazing trip to Uganda this summer-

First of all, THANKYOU so so so much to all the people who have donated towards our trip, and also everyone who have brought our cakes, paid us to wash their cars, came to our NYFC evening and also everyone who has prayed! (We wouldn't be any where near where we are now without you!)

With only 37 days until we go, everything is happening, I will attempt to keep you all in the loop with our last few fundraisers, planning meetings, and of course what we are getting up to while we are there!

We had our second team day on Saturday- Team days are always fun to hang out with the guys we are going with, as well as getting excited for the trip, praying and planning! We focused on planning on saturday, there is so much to plan! Small groups planned our programmes for: Catch up education classes, pre school, girls classes, football, netball, athletics, music workshops and planning our murals. There is still final little bits of planning to do, but we have done the majority of it! Wahoo!

We are currently about £1750 away from our final fundraising target, which is fairly scary, as we only have 5 weeks to go, but looking back at over £20,000 we have already raised we are trusting that we will get it all in the end! (Thank you Jesus and the Church!)

What we are up to at the moment- Well, a lot of the team have now finished school/exams, which is so great.- they are now in charge of the final fundraisers; including fulfilling auction of promises' promises, organising clothes collections, cake sales and hopefully an afternoon tea in august (watch out for more info about this!) We are also finalising lesson plans and trying to get together all of our resources and supplies we need to take with us.

We have an exciting new link with the Holy Trinity Pre-school and the Pre-school in Mbale, so next week we are recording our Pre-school singing a song, as well as doing some fact files on 2 of the children, in the hopes we can do similar things with the Ugandans to bring back!

So, if you are still reading- Thanks,

And if you are a prayer- please pray for:
-The final £1750
-Preparations for sessions and lessons, that we can approach them with the right attitudes and sensitivity, as well as being at the right level for the Ugandan kids.
-Continued recovery from illness for several of the people going on the trip.
-Thanks, as we now have all passports back from the passport office, so everyone can actually leave England!

-More info coming soon!
